Life Story for Jeanie B LaBudie

Jeanie B LaBudie
It is with great sadness that the family of Jeanie LaBudie, announce her sudden passing at the age of 87, in Tampa, FL, on August 4, 2017.
Jeanie was born in Pennsylvania, where she graduated from New Kensington High School. She moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the Dept. of State before marrying Thomas LaBudie. Thomas and Jeanie saw the sights together, creating fond memories of abroad. Their 1st stop was France, via the USS America cruise liner. What a time, is all Tom could add. The Paris trip last 1 month, as they waited for arrangements to Africa. West Africa lasted 2 years, touring the Sahara Desert in Mali. Living among the people. Touring the wilds of the African continent, there was never a dull moment. While living in Africa during her husband’s Foreign services, she worked for an ambassador. She later worked at the Dept. Of Transportation before retiring.
Jeanie loved her children, Kathleen and Jeffrey. Memories of good times provide them grace and peace. I think Jeanie loved the winter the best with her kids. Going down the driveway on a sled, grinning from ear to ear, as they say, a photo says it all.
She was always involved in her church. The Holy Lands were her last big adventure. Walking the streets and embracing the customs. Donkeys and camels, not a problem for this girl. Having a chance for missionary work, she jumped at the opportunity. Traveling to Guatemala, an orphanage from what the photos show. Spending time teaching, one on one attention with many boys and girls. Working alongside the local people. A helping hand given at every opportunity. Her church friends were a big part of her week. Enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with the friends she made there.
She loved to travel the world and visit with family and friends. Her imprint on our hearts beyond words. She will be missed.
She was preceded by her parents, Elias and Helen Barham and her sister, Miriam. She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. LaBudie; daughter, Kathleen Thompson; son, Jeffrey LaBudie and 4 sisters: Janet Gloria, Rose and Eleanor, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday August 25th, 2017 at 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Adams and Jennings Funeral Home, 6900 N. Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL 33604. The burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513.
