Obituary for Arnold Osmond Schnabel

Arnold Osmond Schnabel
Arnold O. Schnabel, Jr. 85, of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 3rd, 2017, surrounded
by loving friends and family at the VA Hospital.

He was born October 17, 1931 to the late Arnold and Lois Schnabel in Cleveland, Ohio.
At the age of 17 he attended Purdue for one year. Then at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Air Force during
the Korean War. While in Amarillo, Texas, he started looking for the truth and found it at the Church of
Christ and was baptized. After the War, he attended Freed-Hardeman and met Sue Alcorn from Shelbyville, Tennesee. They were married in 1954. After that, he went to Auburn and graduated with an aeronautical engineering degree and moved to Washington State in 1958 to work for Boeing. While there, he had a deep desire to teach and preach God's Word, so he quit Boeing and moved to Portland, Oregon in 1966 to be a gospel preacher at 160th Ave. Church of Christ. In 1974 he accepted an offer from the late FC President James Cope and moved to Tampa, Florida to work with the Seminole Church of Christ as their gospel preacher and to start a program for parents to teach their children Bible lessons at home. Being a general contractor allowed him the opportunity in 1981 to build the old Carrollwood Church of Christ building for Christians to begin a new work there. In later years, he traveled to Russia, Romania, Philippines to spread the gospel. Since returning from Russia, Arnold specialized in indoor environmental solutions. The First Edition of his book "Has God Spoken" was written in 1964 and he completed the Updated Fifth Edition in 2004. It uses science to prove God's existence and fights against the theory of evolution. In his last days, Arnold put his book in ebook form and made it free so the truth could reach more people.
