Obituary for Giles Armstrong

Giles Armstrong
Giles Armstrong of Temple Terrace, passed away on December 6, 2017, at the age of 95.

He is survived by his loving family: son Rick Armstrong, his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Alan Jordan, his granddaughter, Georgia Russell and his sister, Flossie Cherry (Stanley, NC).

He was born in Stanley, North Carolina in 1922 to Gus and Ida Armstrong and was raised with his ten brothers and sisters. After moving to Florida when he was 19, he then met and married his wife of over 50 years, Shirley Lewis. During this time he spent his career proudly working for the Atlantic Coastline railroad for 37 years. Giles and Shirley were strong in their faith and were active members of Belmont Baptist Church for 60 years.

Giles was hard working, devoted to his family and never met a stranger. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and church family. He loved to grow vegetables in his garden, cook for friends and family, go for neighborhood walks and repair endless tools in his workshop.

Funeral services will be held at Belmont Baptist Church on Monday, Dec 11 at 11:00 am. Family will receive friends from 10 am until time of Service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Belmont Baptist Church.
