Joyce Scruggs McDougal 91, of Lutz, Florida passed away on May 22, 2017. Joyce was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Sidney Lee & Gypsia Scruggs. She graduated from Hillsborough High School. Joyce was organist at Adams & Jennings Funeral Home for over 50 years. She also taught piano lessons and served as a church organist for many years. Joyce had a beautiful soprano voice and she sang solos and sang faithfully in her church choirs for over 60 years. She also sang in the San Carlo Opera Company of Tampa for many years. Joyce was dedicated to the Lord, her family and her church, Idlewild Baptist, where she was a member for over 40 years. She also enjoyed sewing, playing tennis and camping with her family. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Chandler “Mac” McDougall; loving children and their spouses, Leta and Tim Juckette and Rev. Brian and Diana McDougall; grandchildren, Logan and Lauren McDougall; niece, Mollie Scruggs; nephews, Sidney Lee Scruggs, III, and Samuel Lee Scruggs. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 am at Idlewild Baptist Church, 18333 Exciting Idlewild Blvd., Lutz, Florida 33548. Visitation begins at 10:00 am. The service will be followed by interment at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Tampa, Florida.
