Obituary for Ralph Eugene Odom , "Gene" Esquire II

40, of Valrico, often called “Geno”, was born in Tampa, FL and died in an airplane crash near Cairo, GA. “Gene” graduated from Plant City High School, earned a Bio Medical Engineering degree at University of South Florida and a Law degree at Stetson University where he graduated magna cum laude. He was a partner at Martinez-Odom Law Group in Brandon, FL and was a renowned and successful civil trial lawyer. He made extraordinary achievements, such as being the youngest civil trial lawyer to win a near one million dollar verdict before age 30. He was a certified commercial multi-engine and helicopter pilot and his accomplishments are too many to list. He was a kind and generous man who helped many charities. He was a devoted, loving father and was loved very much by his family and will be extremely missed by many. “No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why.” He is survived by his father, Ralph Eugene Odom (Michelle) of Tampa; mother, Norma Odom and sister, Amanda Odom, both of Riverview; fiancé, Wyatt Oakey of Valrico; three children, Taylor Odom of Plant City, Ethan and Madelyn Odom of Brandon; uncle, Ed Gassaway and cousins, Kelly (Davey) and Emma Raulerson all of Okeechobee. A funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 3315 Bryan Rd., Brandon, FL 33511. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warrior Project in Gene’s memory.
