Obituary for Vera Louise Jarrett

87, , died Friday after an extended illness. Vera was born in Clay Township in Hendricks County, Indiana to Luther and Gladys Crouch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James W. Jarrett; brothers, Glen, Charles, Ed and Harold and sisters, Pearl and Betty. She is survived by her three children, Bruce Jarrett (Margie) of Tampa, Dottie Jarrett of Ellijay, GA and Mike Jarrett (Carrie) of Dunnellon, FL; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Christoff (Joel), Michael Jarrett and James Jarrett; 5 great-grandchildren, Devin, Kaelyn, Ryan, Riley and Tyler, all of whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her brother, John Crouch (Judy) of Indianapolis, IN and her sister, Caroline Caudill (James) of Dupont, IN and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. Vera graduated from Amo H.S. in Hendricks Co., attended Earlham College in Richmond, IN and earned her master’s degree in education at USF in Tampa, FL. As a special education teacher in Hillsborough Co. for over 20 years, she touched the lives of hundreds of children. Vera was very active with women’s and youth groups at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in South Bend, IN and Hyde Park Presbyterian Church in Tampa, FL. She loved cooking and published her own cookbook and 2 church cookbooks, which are still favorites of family and friends. A graveside service will be held at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park (4207 E. Lake Ave.) tomorrow (Friday) at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Lifepath Hospice or dementia research will be appreciated.
