Obituary for Bobby Joe Floyd Jr.

Bobby, or ‘Joe’ as his family referred to him, was originally from Huntington, WV, and moved to the Tampa area settling in Gibsonton, FL when he was 16 years old. He was a loyal husband, father, and friend. He was a proud member of Holyrood Lodge 257, several local Amateur Radio Clubs (Ares/Races, STARC and TARC), the Brandon Coin Club and president of Pioneer Heating and Air Conditioning in Tampa.

He loved science and mechanics, and could hold a conversation on just about any subject. As a small business owner, he was known for his great ability to buy and sell almost anything. He lived a simple lifestyle and enjoyed family gatherings and bbqs, Sunday road trips to nowhere, ham radios and collecting coins.

Early in life he obtained his private pilot’s license and would enjoy day trips with his friends on business trips all around the state. He enjoyed helping others, especially those down on their luck. He officially retired after selling his HVAC business Pioneer Heating and Air-conditioning in the mid 90’s, which he operated for nearly 20+ years, but still kept very active with the clubs he served.

He is survived by his daughter, Lori Fulton and her husband, Tim of Mayfield, KY; son, Mike Floyd and his wife, Zandra of Seffner, FL; grandson, Josh Fulton and his wife, Erin and their son, Peyton of Mayfield, KY; mother, Helen (Ray) Floyd of TX; brothers, John Floyd of Virginia; David Floyd of Florida; sisters, Janice Sandwick, Annette Cartwright, and Henrietta Floyd of Texas; several nieces, nephews and very close friends.

Family and friends will be received at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Adams & Jennings Funeral Home Chapel (6900 N. Nebraska Ave, Tampa, FL) with a memorial service to begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifePath Hospice in memory of Bobby J. Floyd, Jr.
